RULES & REGULATIONS FOR WIENER DOG RACES

• Competing race dogs must be a certified wiener dog. Your dog DOES NOT have to be AKA or AKC registered or certified. Please bring your dog’s shot records that clearly indicate “dachshund” breed. We have the right to disqualify any dog based on questionable breed. Mix breeds are not permitted. The judges have the right to disqualify any dachshund mix breed.

• All race dogs must have a current rabies vaccine. Please bring verification with you on race day.

• You may register more than one dog. There is a $10 pre-registration race fee per dog that must be delivered to the Fairfield Co. Ag. Society by 10/1/25. Entry fees are non-refundable as they are used for event costs.

• Races are divided by random draw.

• Only dogs entered to race are permitted on the grounds and in the racetrack area.

• Only two people per dog are permitted in the racetrack area. One person at the start and one at the finish.

• A starting gate will be used, and dogs will race off leash.

• No food may be used as a lure for your dog. Squeaky toys are acceptable.

• Eliminations will be raced beginning at 10 am on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, and the top dog final heat will be raced for the $500 grand prize package at 11:30 am. The track opens for harness racing at Noon so plan to have your dog out of the racetrack by Noon.

• Dogs must display his or her best behavior. Any dog showing aggression or fighting will be asked to leave and may not be permitted to race. If a dog is aggressive toward other dogs in the elimination heats, the offending dog will be disqualified from the final. All decisions by the judges are final.

• Owners must be in control of your dog(s) at all times. Do not leave dogs unattended for any reason.

• The racecourse will be 30 yards log and dogs will race off leash.

• This is a rain or shine event

• FCAS reserves the right to close entries early if the maximum capacity of 50 dogs is reached.

• Entry fees do not include gate admission to the fair. You must have a valid fair pass or pay the regular admission price to enter the fairgrounds for this event.
